AI tools are only as good as the way you use them. This training is for professionals who want reliable, high-quality results from AI in their writing, analysis, content, and everyday work, by learning to prompt with skill and intention. Whether you’re new to working with AI or already using it daily and want sharper results, you’ll build a toolkit you can apply right away. You don’t need to be a developer to take part.

Open to professionals from any background. A basic comfort using AI chat tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini is helpful, and our AI Literacy training is a good foundation if you’re starting fresh, though neither is required. No coding or AI development experience is needed. A computer and a stable internet connection are all you need, along with a willingness to practice on real tasks.

1. Prompt engineering foundations

You’ll start by understanding what prompt engineering really is and why the way you ask shapes what an AI gives back. You’ll learn the building blocks of an effective prompt: clarity, specificity, constraints, assigning a role, and breaking a request into steps. You’ll also see where this skill fits, focused on getting useful results from AI tools rather than building or training models yourself. By the end of this block, you’ll be able to take a weak, vague prompt and turn it into a clear one that gets a better answer.

2. Core prompting techniques

You’ll move from the basics into a practical toolkit of prompting techniques you can reach for by name. You’ll practice giving prompts clear objectives, the right context, and a defined output format, and you’ll work with approaches like zero-shot and few-shot prompting, role prompting, and chain-of-thought prompting to guide how a model reasons and responds. You’ll compare vague prompts with well-structured ones and see the difference for yourself. Along the way, you’ll start designing your own custom GPT with a clear scope and purpose.


3. Advanced reasoning and context engineering

You’ll go deeper into techniques built for reasoning, structure, and multi-step tasks, including methods like self-ask, meta prompting, and self-consistency that help a model work through harder problems and check its own answers. You’ll then learn context engineering: a structured way to decide what background a model needs, how much is useful, and how to organize it for the best result. You’ll practice judging when a prompt needs more context, less context, or simply better-organized context. By the end, you’ll be able to handle complex tasks that a single, simple prompt can’t.

4. Reviewing models, tokens, and APIs

You’ll step back to compare the AI models on the market and learn to judge them on what matters: output quality, reliability, ethical behavior, and fit for the task in front of you. You’ll see how tokens drive cost, context length, and response size, and how that shapes the way you write efficient prompts. You’ll get a working introduction to APIs and to how prompts are used inside AI agents to set goals, guide actions, and support tool use. By the end, you’ll be able to pick the right model for a job and write prompts that respect both cost and context.

5. Challenges, ethics, and creative generation

You’ll look squarely at the hard parts of prompt engineering: ambiguity, the balance between creativity and control, and the ethical risks that come with AI-generated content, including bias, intellectual property, and responsible use. You’ll learn to write with inclusive, neutral language and to recognize where platform limits and conflicting instructions get in the way. You’ll also practice prompting for images, video, and audio, where clear technical detail and ethical limits shape the quality of what you create. By the end, you’ll be able to write more precise prompts across text and media while keeping responsibility in view.

6. Prompt engineering as a skill and a career

In the final block, you’ll see how prompt engineering shows up in real jobs and daily work. Four practitioners who use it every day will share how it supports tasks like workflow automation, content creation, analysis, and agent-based systems. You’ll connect what you’ve learned to wider changes in the job market, drawing on the World Economic Forum’s report on the future of jobs, and discuss the skills, ethics, and evaluation habits that professional prompting calls for. You’ll leave with a basic plan for building your own prompt engineering portfolio or skill profile.
