ICT Manager with Advanced Federal Diploma
ICT Manager course prepares professionals from all industries for the federal examination and increasingly complex future of ICT Management. Participants will gain a full understanding of the challenges and potential of information security compliance, and management systems, along with the frameworks and definitions of governance for an information security strategy to help secure their organisation’s cyber-resilient future.
Over one year, participants will access key tools, principles, and frameworks from international professors and academic instructors. Participants will learn how to evaluate and implement information security solutions, ensure information security incident handling, and create a competitive advantage for their organisation.

To be able to attend the Federal Examination, you need to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a recognized higher educational institution and have two years of professional experience in the IT / ICT field

Frequently Asked Questions
ICT Managers, with many years of professional experience to the point of the Federal Examination, possess extensive specialist and managerial tasks in the ICT sector. The purpose of the Federal Diploma is to provide assurance that the person who obtained it distinguishes herself or himself in terms of commitment, practical, and technical knowledge. Therefore, the holder is capable of assuming higher management roles within the ICT professional field.
The ICT Managers recognize relevant relationships and dependencies in the overall context of the organizations, thus are able to manage efficiently and effectively using informed decisions. They consider the economic, environmental, social, legal, and personnel aspects of the company and work with responsibility.
They manage the employees according to modern management methods and thus achieve with their teams the predetermined goals.
ICT Managers develop the ICT strategy and derive the corresponding service portfolio for their organizational unit. On this basis, they determine which services are purchased.
The KPC of an ICT Manager can be different from one job to another, such as:
ICT Management - Develop ICT strategy, define sourcing strategy, implement change
Business Engineering - Designing ICT processes, determining ICT process and organizational structure, advice on ICT use
Leadership and Management - Create and monitor financial planning, personnel Planning resources, taking legal aspects into account in ICT projects
ICT Risk Management - Perform ICT security analyses, ensuring ICT security
To be able to attend the Federal Examination, one of the following conditions must be met:
A bachelor’s or master’s degree from a recognized higher educational institution and has two years of professional experience in the ICT field
or
A diploma of a higher technical examination / higher technical college and three years of experience in the ICT field
or
A professional certificate of a professional examination and has four years of experience in the ICT field
or
Under a "sur dossier" examination, the proof is provided of qualified professional experience in the ICT field of at least eight years and the last two years in a leading specialist and/or line function in the ICT field

Language of the Exam: German, French, Italian
Knowledge of English is required for the study of literature. Regardless if you are living in the German, French, or Italian part of Switzerland, you can enroll in our course.
This course is completely digital and you will experience live interactive learning. There is no need to show up to a classroom in person. You can access your live classrooms, lectures, readings, and challenges anytime and anywhere via the web and mobile.
Swiss Cyber Institute’s Online Campus is excellent for learners, having information clearly laid out, with different modules, and clear timetables to work on. The lessons will take place in two learning formats:
- The weekly live classrooms, which will take place on every Wednesday from 16:00 to 20:00
- Assignments / Homeworks and Group Works
This course consists of modules. Each module is broken down into manageable units. You should work throughout the components of these units in the order they are presented. A unit represents a meaningful portion of work, where you can work on different key concepts and cyber incident challenges.
Each module also aligns with a specific set of learning outcomes or learning competencies. These relate to the specific learning goals you need to achieve for the federal diploma final examination. Therefore we organize several exam simulations.
Small group discussions
Each module in this course offers different topics for you to discuss with your peers. These take the form of discussions in the class-wide forum and are optional.
Live sessions
Each week, you will take part in a live session with your Tutor and classmates. This involves a scenario in which you will learn during the week about specific topics. It is mandatory to participate in the weekly live sessions, which will provide you with an opportunity to engage with the Tutor and ask your questions to your Tutor and peers.
The course costs a total of CHF 16’900. After you attend the federal examination, you will be refunded half of the course fee by the Swiss Federal Government, regardless of your result in the exam. Further details can be found on the web page of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SBFI.
The examination fee for the federal diploma will be around CHF 3,400, according to ICT Berufsbildung. This fee is invoiced by the examiner and must be paid before the November exam.
